We’re in the last few weeks before the Christmas spirit hits us. In preparation for this seasons joviality we’ve put together a list of the most important things to remember.

Make sure you have enough chairs.

Dining table

This is one catches a lot off people of guard (perhaps to myself a few). You’re busy thinking about food, gifts and arrival times and your nephew ends up sitting on the pouffe at the dining table! Grab some of the old chairs out of the garage, give them a clean and make sure you have enough seating for everyone to enjoy the tasty Christmas dinner.

Do your buying sooner rather than later.

Green entrance door

This goes for all kinds of things including travel tickets. If you’re taking a trip by train or coach to see family members it may be cheaper for you to get an advance ticket instead of buying it on the day. Also remember to check the travel restrictions before you go to avoid delays. Over the Christmas period many of the rail tracks go under maintenance which may make it difficult for you if you haven’t prepared.

Lock up the house before you leave.

Following on from the travelling over the Christmas, do a run through of your security including all doors, windows and garages. Make sure that you leave your home as secure as you can. Also avoid posting any of your travel details on social media as this can be a way for thieves to target your home

Christmas and Condensation.

If you’ve got the lovely task of creating the feast for your family this year then you may want to think about the condensation in your home. The large groups of people arriving to celebrate  plus the long hours cooking can cause issues, particularly if you have quite a bit of glass in your home such as a conservatory. Some tips for avoiding the muggy air include, opening windows whilst you cook and keeping the kitchen door closed to help the steam escape through the open windows.

Family

Don’t forget to have fun!

This one should be easy, make sure that you aren’t overdoing things and take the chance of a few days off to relax and spend time with the family.

As this is our last post before 2018 it only right that we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and of course a Happy New Year from the Meadow Hill team.

Thanks to the following photographers for the images in this post; Bruno Martins, Drew Coffman, Annie Spratt and Alexander Dummer
